Keynote Speakers at UID'12: Simon Waterfall & Anna Costamagna

Umeå Institute of Design was very proud to present the two influential designers that shared stories and their visions about the future of the profession:

British Simon Waterfall is often listed among the top creative people in the world. Simon is a multi-award winning creative director and a valuable contributor at important international events, organisations and institutions including Icograda, Hyper Island, Parsons School of Design, the Royal Society of Arts and Institute of Contemporary Arts. In 2008 he was awarded with United Kingdom's highest design honour - the Royal Designer of Industry, award often referred to as the "Queen's 100" and representing recognition for his considerable contribution in all areas of design. Simon's entrepeneurial career in the digital space started really early at the age of 16 and since then he has been part of highly influential companies like Poke, Deepend and Fray. Simon is also currently partner at the irreverent fashion brand SocialSuicide.

Anna Costamagna is an italian engineer who started her career at the world-renowned Bertone Design Centre in Turin. There she worked on innovative projects like the GM Hywire, Opel Insignia and Hummer H3T concept cars, as well as other product design assignments. Since 2004 Anna works for PSA Peugeot in France where she has been design manager for several products such as the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. Her most recent projects include the interior of the Peugeot 208 model line, the first of a series of production cars to embed the new design identity of the brand, and the GTi and XY concept cars presented at the Geneva Motorshow 2012.
